About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented FP&A Associate to join a dynamic owner operator of power generation assets. This role focuses on natural gas power generation and battery energy storage for both merchant power within the ERCOT market and industrial behind-the-meter power generation. The ideal candidate will support financial planning, analysis, reporting activities, and project based financial modeling, ensuring the financial health and stability of each power project.

You will:
  • Assist in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes specific to merchant and behind-the-meter natural gas power generation and battery energy storage.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, statements, and models to support decision-making and performance evaluation.
  • Review and reconcile financial data, transactions, and accounts related to power generation activities.
  • Monitor and analyze financial trends, variances, and key performance indicators within the ERCOT market.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, capital strategy, and liquidity planning
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects and initiatives.
  • Perform monthly cadences for operating assets reviews including variance analysis versus budget and forecasts.
  • Provide support to finance managers and CFO
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in finance and the energy sector.

What You Bring to the Team:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • Experience with project finance and three-statement modeling (income statement, cash flow, balance sheet).
  • 4 - 7 years of experience in finance, preferably within power generation or E&P.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of financial principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards and regulations.
  • Experience with financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
  • Experience with ERP and FP&A planning systems (NetSuite, Full Clarity/Planful, or similar BI and database tools).
  • Familiarity with project finance reporting requirements, including lender covenant packages and equity sponsor deliverables.
