About the RoleThis is a founding engineering role at a consumer health and wellness company sitting at the intersection of AI and ecommerce. You will own the entire engineering function, from a near-term membership platform MVP to a React Native consumer app and LLM-powered automation tooling, working directly with company leadership to move fast and build right.
What You'll Do- Build and launch a consumer membership web application on Shopify and Recharge, then own ongoing maintenance and improvements after launch.
- Monitor and optimize page speed, app performance, and third-party script and pixel behavior across the storefront.
- Keep tracking and consent tools properly configured and compliant with privacy regulations such as CPRA.
- Own engineering architecture, stack choices, security decisions, vendor and contractor selection, and the databases underpinning the membership platform.
- Lead development of a consumer-facing React Native app from the ground up, with iOS as the first priority.
- Build LLM-powered agents and internal tools that run unattended in production, with evaluation frameworks, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop safeguards.
- Leverage AI, automation, and low-code tools to reduce manual operational work and improve execution speed across all functions.
- Tackle high-priority, ad-hoc problems directly with the CEO, moving fluidly between product and infrastructure decisions.
What We're Looking For- 3 or more years of full-stack engineering experience shipping consumer products to production, with 5 to 10 or more years of overall software engineering experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with shipped production applications to demonstrate it.
- Proficiency in Python or Node.js with a track record of writing fast, reliable code.
- Hands-on experience with the Shopify platform and Recharge integration.
- Experience building and shipping consumer-facing React Native applications, ideally iOS-first.
- Demonstrated expertise in web performance optimization, including page speed, bundle size, and third-party script management.
- Experience implementing privacy compliance tooling such as consent management and CPRA or GDPR data handling.
- Comfort making architectural and security decisions independently with minimal guidance.
- Familiarity with AI-powered development tools, LLM agent frameworks, and automation workflows is a strong plus.
- A degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent demonstrated experience shipping software products.
