Corning's Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Provide operational leadership in the manufacture of products for Corning's automotive ceramic substrates, light duty filters, heavy duty diesel substrates and filters business in the Erwin Manufacturing Complex. In this position you will lead the activities of production teams to support the objectives of the plant by developing and implementing plans to; maintain a safe work environment, manufacture quality products and maximize the efficiency and output of operations. Other responsibilities include:

  • Lead production operations with responsibility for ceramic extrusion, with the ability to scale to support increased business demand.
  • Direct reports consist of team leaders overseeing forming and finishing operations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources across engineering, quality, maintenance, and support functions to meet output, quality, and uptime goals.
  • Coordinates resources to meet output, select, and uptime goals.
  • Align hourly workforce to reflect business levels.
  • Ensure compliance to Plant and Corporate rules and expectations including Plant Policies, Procedures, Safety and housekeeping, Quality Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and production goals.
  • This is a critical operational role in driving safety for the department.
  • Drive process control and process discipline (PCPD) and manufacturing basics in the department including front line supervisor training for team leaders.
  • Emphasize the development of team leaders and hourly employees by providing effective coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Define, plan and execute programs and projects to improve productivity and cost reduction.


Travel Requirements:
  • Less than 10%


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
  • Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm; additional hours may be needed.


Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience


Required Years and Area of Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years previous leadership experience or equivalent technical or engineering experience.
  • Experience working on technical problems or teams with technicians.
  • Prior budget responsibility.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Ability to train, coach, and direct others.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


Desired Skills:
  • Experience in ceramic extrusion or ceramic manufacturing processes (preferred).
  • Employee Relations experience.
  • Safety, Health, Environmental compliance.
  • Experience in Six Sigma, Lean or Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to lead multi-functional teams through ambiguity and effectively manage change.
  • Experience with cross-functional coordination across engineering, quality, and maintenance teams.

The range for this position is $80,750.00 - $111,031.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
