This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

We are looking for a fluids & propulsion design engineer for the MK2 Lander and its test articles. Your work will include managing the configuration of the propulsion system, ownership of CAD models, tubing definition, and manufacturing development efforts through the complete life cycle of fluid systems.

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Generating CAD models for propulsion fluid system hardware and tube assemblies for flight and ground testing
  • Releasing Model Based Definition (MBD) of fluid assemblies, assembly drawings, and perform drawing checks
  • Leading design configuration management of the fluid and propulsion system ensuring a consistent baseline and successful integration with the vehicle
  • Coordinating with vehicle teams on interfaces and joint design solutions
  • Leading design for manufacturability efforts for fluid component assemblies
  • Performing basic structural analysis on fluid system hardware


Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience designing tubes, fluid components, engine assemblies, and test rigs
  • Experience generating 3D models and drawings in Creo for fluid assemblies with significant experience with tube routing
  • Experience designing welded tube assemblies for aerospace systems and familiarity with aerospace fluid system design standards
  • Experience with large assemblies
  • Experience performing structural hand calculations and analysis with tools such as ANSYS
  • Experience interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Expertise in ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


Desired:
  • Familiarity with ground systems design standards
  • Experience with ProEngineer/Creo, Windchill, and ProPiping
  • Experience designing propulsion test fixtures, tooling, and ground systems
  • Experience with cryogenic systems
  • Experience with FEA analysis (ANSYS)
  • Advanced Engineering degree


Base Pay Range for:
CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
