Full-Time, Hybrid

The Opportunity

You are an engineer, first and foremost. You are intimately familiar with designing and building cloud-native infrastructure following industry best-practices, especially when it comes to security. You are keen on automation and dislike repetitive tasks. You are not satisfied and will continually iterate on something until you feel it is done the right way. You are someone that has an ownership mentality and tries to always leave something in a better state than the way they found it. You have an insatiable curiosity and always ask: Why? You thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. You are a strong communicator, explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.

You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.

The Team

Flourish was founded in 2017 with the goal of helping financial advisors to better secure the financial futures of their clients. We focus on independent Registered Investment Advisers (RIAs), delivering financial products that advisors can't easily access today through beautiful, scalable, and easy-to-use technology.

Today, we work with over 700 RIAs that collectively represent more than $1.5T in assets under management across three products: Flourish Annuities, Flourish Cash, and Flourish Crypto. Headquartered in New York City, we are an independently operating, wholly owned subsidiary of MassMutual Life Insurance Company.

The Impact

Our mission is to provide innovative access to financial products that help RIAs secure their clients' financial futures and the Flourish Engineers play a key role in doing just that.

You will be at the forefront of high-impact, mission-critical projects that will enable us to sail into the next chapters of our cloud-native journey. Working with other engineers, you will bring ideas from the whiteboard to reality, providing input to key architectural decisions. You will be responsible for designing and building infrastructure as code following industry best-practices, especially when it comes to security. You will engineer self-service and automated solutions to enable application development teams to constantly move faster while ensuring compliance with security standards and requirements. You have working knowledge of distributed systems and cloud-native technologies, and are excited to work throughout the tech-stack to deliver a delightful experience for customers and coworkers.

Responsibilities:
  • Being part of a passionate and creative team of engineers in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment at the forefront of high-impact, mission-critical projects that will enable us to sail into the next chapters of our cloud-native journey
  • Designing, developing, integrating, testing, and monitoring all AWS infrastructure following industry best practices and standards in a secure and highly regulated environment
  • Engineer self-service and automated solutions to enable application development teams to constantly move faster while ensuring compliance with security standards and requirements
  • Build and pilot a next generation application platform centered around Kubernetes and its ecosystem of software

  • Champion cloud-native best practices and partner with application development teams on their implementation
  • Automating your job away
