Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation's Calgary office is recruiting for a Financial Reporting Specialist for a fixed term, contracted maternity leave coverage position to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting in the Accounting Service Unit (ASU), part of Pembina's Financial Services Division.

The Accounting Service Unit provides financial reporting and accounting leadership across Pembina's Service Units and is responsible for the preparation and compilation of Pembina's consolidated financial statements, notes, MD&A, and operational highlights. The team is also responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to accounting policies, review and analysis of new accounting standards and interpretations, accounting for capital assets, legal entity reporting and regulatory compliance and maintaining SAP FI/CO data integrity.

Please note that this is a 12-14-month fixed term position.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Coordinating and reviewing monthly financial statements, operational highlights and supporting accounting tasks;
  • Serving as a BPC expert to support the development, design, and execution of Analysis for Office (AO) queries, while also providing BPC training to users across the business;
  • Conducting financial analysis on monthly and quarterly data, with the ability to data mine and resolve issues;
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders to gather and provide information for accounting and reporting processes;
  • Addressing inquiries from auditors and internal reviewers;
  • Supporting financial accounting and reporting tasks and other projects, including SAP and BPC system testing;
  • Proactively identifying and mitigating risks related to financial compliance;
  • Demonstrate learning agility by actively seeking feedback, adapting to new information quickly, and applying learnings to improve performance and deliver results in a dynamic environment;
  • Embrace a mindset of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, workflows, and overall efficiency in alignment with organizational goals; and

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation with a minimum of 6 to 8+ years of relevant accounting experience;
  • Strong understanding of Pembina's business operations and financial processes and proficiency in financial analysis;
  • Advanced skills and hands-on experience with:
    • SAP and SAP BPC;
    • AO queries;
    • Workiva;
    • MS Excel and other Microsoft applications;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy;
  • Energetic, positive and motivated with a strong work ethic, able to work effectively under pressure;
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, or processes and apply them effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills; and
  • Effective communication, organization, and time management skills.
