The Financial Analyst SME supports a Department of Justice (DOJ) component by delivering advanced financial analysis, data validation, and internal control support across multiple federal financial management systems. This role enhances the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of debt-related financial processing and reporting, contributing directly to a high-performing team focused on strengthening financial operations and enabling sustainable, data-driven improvements.
What You Will Do:- Review financial transactions, debtor payments, and third-party disbursements to ensure actions are legal, proper, and compliant with federal requirements.
- Validate payees and payment allocations in case management and financial systems and ensure alignment across financial documentation.
- Execute monthly suspended disbursement reviews, identify root causes, and assist in remediation.
- Evaluate data captured in case management and financial systems to identify inconsistencies and propose corrective actions.
- Conduct trend analysis and continuous monitoring of high-risk areas to detect process weaknesses, delays, or anomalies.
- Support internal control activities, including documentation reviews, identification of control gaps, and recommendations to strengthen financial operations.
- Develop dashboards, reporting templates, and analytics for senior leadership Track recommendations, corrective actions, and follow-up testing to validate improvements.
- Participate in stakeholder engagements and provide clear, concise analytical insights to DOJ leadership.
What You Will Need:- Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Minimum SIX (6) years of federal financial management, accounting, or auditing experience
What Would Be Nice To Have:- Professional certifications such as CPA, CGFM, PMP, or similar
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP, GAGAS, and federal accounting standards
- Experience with federal financial systems, ideally UFMS, CDCS, or Treasury systems
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL)
- Federal project management experience
- Active or Ability to obtain Public Trust
- Experience reviewing records to confirm compliance with rules and regulations
- Prior knowledge or experience with government audits
The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
