Role Purpose

Our Plant Controller is a key member of the plant management staff, collaborating and providing financial analysis to support plant and business objectives.

As a Plant Controller, you will:
  • Lead the finance function, and be a key member and decision maker of the Plant management staff
  • Close the financial books monthly, analyze results, support and review period financial reports and ledgers, and publish plant period report
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities, including fixed asset management, inventory valuation, product costing, period reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and overall asset and liability control
  • Proactively identify cost problems, use appropriate analysis drive to root cause, and take the lead on problem resolution and development of effective solutions
  • Drive process improvements within the finance function: document existing processes (SOP's) and seek improvement opportunities to reduce complexity
  • Ensure appropriate support of Solar Wafer divisional requirements and Corning Finance functions
  • Prepare annual budget and business forecasts, and analyze and seek approval for capital investments with return metrics (ROI, IRR & Payback)
  • Maintain internal control systems and ensure compliance to local regulations, Sarbanes Oxley requirements, US GAAP, and Corporate Accounting Policies, and participate as a leader in setting and managing the direction of the plant as well as support tax and insurance filings
  • Ability to take on various ad-hoc responsibilities as required. Source, select, and develop talent to support global and entity Finance talent needs


Key Responsibilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Cost modeling, inventory control and management, capital investment management, and manufacturing variance analysis and reporting
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, cost modeling, inventory control and management, capital investment management, and manufacturing variance analysis and reporting
  • Ability to learn on the fly and serve on various project teams, learn quickly when facing new problems or unfamiliar tasks
  • Able to act with complete independence and objectivity
  • Self-motivated, ability to take initiative, culturally sensitive, ambitious and aspires to grow professionally
  • Able to manage through ambiguity and perform in fast past environment, proven ability to embrace and drive change, and ability to challenge decisions and provide alternative recommendations


Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent technical degree required
  • MBA/CPA Preferred
  • 10+ years of manufacturing or relevant experience, cost accounting experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills required: proficiency in Excel / PowerPoint, general ledger systems, forecasting tools

The range for this position is $134,486.00 - $184,919.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
