Position Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Project Financial Analyst (Clarity PPM) to support project and portfolio financial management activities. This role is responsible for maintaining financial data within Clarity PPM, managing project funding and budgets, monitoring forecast accuracy, and ensuring alignment between project financials and organizational financial systems. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, PMO, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators to provide accurate financial reporting, support funding decisions, and maintain compliance with governance and audit requirements.

This is a hybrid position requiring attendance at the downtown Toronto office and/or client office a minimum of two days per week, subject to change based on business needs.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Project Financial Management
Set up, maintain, and update project financial structures within Clarity PPM, including cost plans, budget plans, and benefit plans.
Manage project funding allocations, investment funding records, and cost center mappings.
Monitor project expenditures and track actual costs against approved budgets and forecasts.
Update financial forecasts regularly to support accurate project and portfolio planning.
Financial Reconciliation and Reporting
Reconcile financial information between Clarity PPM and enterprise financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other ERP platforms.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies to ensure data integrity and consistency.
Generate and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics, including:
Budget vs. Actuals
Burn Rate Analysis
Forecast Accuracy
Funding Utilization
Provide financial insights and recommendations to project, portfolio, and leadership stakeholders.
Budgeting and Funding Support
Assist with annual and quarterly budgeting processes and funding approval cycles.
Support the classification and tracking of capital and operating expenditures.
Monitor funding utilization and identify budget variances, risks, or funding shortfalls.
Escalate financial concerns and risks to project and portfolio leadership as appropriate.
Governance and Compliance
Ensure project financial activities comply with organizational financial governance policies, standards, and audit requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation of funding sources, approvals, budget changes, and financial decisions.
Support month-end and quarter-end financial close activities for projects managed within Clarity.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Guidance
Partner with Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Finance teams, and PMO stakeholders to align resource costs and project funding.
Provide guidance and training to project teams on financial data entry standards and best practices within Clarity PPM.
Promote financial data accuracy, consistency, and process improvement across project portfolios.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience working with Clarity PPM, specifically within financial and cost management modules.
Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, funding allocations, and financial reporting.
Experience reconciling financial data between PPM solutions and ERP/accounting systems.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of project financial management principles, including:
Budgeting
Forecasting
Cost management
Capitalization
Funding allocation
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
Experience using reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Clarity reporting tools.
Experience supporting large-scale project portfolios or enterprise PMO environments.
Knowledge of project governance, audit controls, and financial compliance requirements.
Ability to translate complex financial information into clear and actionable insights for stakeholders.
