The Health Research and Clinical Product Team conceives of and proves out exciting new technologies for Apple's future products and features. We are seeking a Studies Specialist to maintain our high standards with human study data collection efforts to support development and validation of new health sensors and algorithms.

Description Field Studies Specialists are responsible for designing and implementing the operational aspects of human subject research. They must understand research objectives and translate these into detailed documentation to ensure successful implementation by vendors and field sites. With a strong attention to detail, they oversee testing of workflows, the preparation of test and study equipment, provide training for vendor and site staff, manage device accountability, track data quality, and address corrective actions in collaboration with vendors and sites. In addition to managing internal contract field specialists, they oversee the Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) assigned to the study by the CRO. By working closely with internal multi-functional teams and the Technical Field Specialist, they ensure compliance and track usability data, focusing on maximizing study data yield. They are adept at managing change control, adjusting the process as necessary to meet the specific needs of each study. Field Studies Specialists are skilled multitaskers, adept at handling multiple high-quality studies in partnership with external sites and vendors. We are looking for someone who is flexible and can respond quickly, energetically, and enthusiastically to constant change. Cross-functional communication skills and experience are essential. Field Studies Specialists must be able to succinctly and accurately communicate results and requirements to all engineering design disciplines, data analysis, legal, business development, and other project management teams. Having exposure and familiarity with the changing dynamics of research and development is highly desired. This is a site-based role. Some travel could be required, approximately 15-20%.

Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in biomedical engineering or any engineering field, or equivalent
  • 4+ years of field clinical engineer or clinical research associate experience
  • Strong human research background with clear understanding of study lifecycle for medical devices
  • Experience working with and managing external sites and/or vendors
  • Background in Good Clinical Practice procedures


Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluent (read/write) in Mandarin
  • Highly organized and hyper-attentive to detail
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adapt, improve, and champion best practices
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the critical thinking and resourcefulness to achieve study objectives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $118,500 and $197,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
