Field Service Representative - Radiology (Ontario)

The primary purpose of the Radiology Field Service Engineer position is to provide direct on-site service. This includes preventive maintenance, emergency service and installation support service to end user customers with Bayer Radiology Equipment.

The position is also responsible for ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction while assisting in reaching Bayer Radiology business objectives. Willingness to acquire and use sales skills is a must. Challenges of this position include extensive travel (40,000 to 60,000 driving kilometers per year), working in the healthcare environment with a possibility of contaminated products, exposure to X-rays and MRI Magnetic fields, sick patients and the need to lift heavy equipment (over 30lbs). A typical workweek approaches 50 hours including on-call duty after regular business hours and weekends as needed.

This is a vacant permanent position which will cover the Ontario territory.

What you will do:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations at customer sites using approved Bayer procedure and documentation.


  • Utilize resources to effectively troubleshoot and repair technical and complex equipment.
  • Responsible for organizing personal daily work schedule, coordinating with territory teammates to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain mobile inventory. Organize and re-order as needed to maximize equipment up-time while ensuring quality work is performed minimizing failures that result in additional customer visits. Responsible for proper return of all used inventory for replenishment.
  • Generate service revenue through promotion of Service Programs and Billable services. Work with Territory Service Inside Sales teammates to prepare and develop service quotes, follow through to completion of the sale. Communicate with end-user customers, purchasing agents and asset managers to help finalize sales.
  • Complete work orders accurately to ensure customer billing aligns with company policy.
  • Generate sales leads and communicate to respective sales reps for new product or product upgrade opportunities.
  • Maintain company car and assigned calibrated tools and special equipment.
  • Ensure all proprietary info is safe guarded from non-Bayer personnel, including: Service & Training Manuals, Diagnostic and Calibration software, BIT keys, etc.
  • Build and maintain Key Working Relationships: • End User customers • Doctors/Administrators/Purchasing Agents/Dealers • Bayer Sales, Applications, Service Marketing, Service Admin and Customer Service • Bayer Technical Assistance Center personnel

Who you are:

  • Preferred- Associates degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, biomedical equipment technology, IT networking, computer science or relevant discipline.
  • Alternative qualifications include: Equivalent military training in areas such as electronics, aviation, IT, computer science or relevant training with minimum of 2 years of applicable experience. High school diploma or GED with training (including certifications) in areas listed above with minimum of 3 years of applicable experience.
  • Prior work experience in hospital setting or with customer service preferred.
  • Will be required to demonstrate competency to perform operational verification procedures, preventative maintenance, and repair service on various equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a face paced self-directed environment; Prioritize, schedule, and organize own work activities.
  • Strong verbal and written competencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite and exhibited ability to use company specific workforce and customer relationship management software.
  • Ability to travel within assigned territory and nationally (including overnight and extended time periods depending on territory assignment and training requirements)
  • Must hold a current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as emergency off-hours as required to support a 24/7 schedule.
  • Able to lift and/or push over 30 pounds.
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods of time.

The base salary range for this role is between $66,560 and $99,840. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, and contributory retirement savings plans, etc.

This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, market data and the applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, job-related knowledge, specific degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.

This role also provides the opportunity to earn additional performance-based compensation. If performance-based compensation is earned, the total compensation package may provide an opportunity to earn a Total Direct Compensation (TDC) range of $82,200 to $123,300. This TDC would include base salary and may also include items like bonuses (short-term and long-term incentives) and sales incentives. The estimated TDC range estimates performance-based compensation earned at 100% of target; however actual amounts may fluctuate below or above the TDC range based on company and/or individual performance.
