We are looking for a
Field Service Engineer In this hands-on, field-based role, you'll support customers by commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting power distribution and protection systems across a wide range of industrial environments. The role is highly travel-oriented and focused on medium- and high-impact field execution, with opportunities to work on both greenfield and brownfield projects nationwide. This position supports Siemens' Electrification Automation business and plays a key role in ensuring safe, reliable system performance for our customers.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will: - Install, test, commission, and start up low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment (approximately 480V-15kV), including switchgear and breakers
- Perform hands-on commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control relays (e.g., SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens SIPROTEC)
- Perform hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting using relay testing equipment and software tools (e.g., Omicron, Doble, DIGSI, Protection Suite)
- Support protection and control systems from multiple manufacturers, including Siemens SIPROTEC, SEL, and GE Multilin
- Develop switching procedures, methods of procedure (MOPs), and providing guidance on electrical safety practices
- Support greenfield and brownfield installations, warranty responses, maintenance activities, and retrofit projects across the U.S.
- Document work performed, test results, and system conditions through clear technical reporting
You will make an impact with these qualifications: Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Senior Level Engineer will have 8+ years of experience with the following:
- Low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, including switchgear
- Protection and control relay commissioning and troubleshooting
- Relay testing equipment and software (e.g., Omicron test sets, Doble 6150, DIGSI, Protection Suite)
- Electrical control circuit troubleshooting and equipment condition assessment
- Field-based commissioning and testing in industrial, utility, or power distribution environments
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50-60% (national travel)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of field service experience commissioning and troubleshooting power distribution systems
- Experience with high-voltage or SF6 gas circuit breakers
- Relevant certifications or safety training (e.g., NICET, NETA, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, MSHA 46/48, TWIC)

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
