Qualifications

Full Job Description
What You'll Do

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Field Quality Advisor role is focused on providing quality leadership and insight to the projects group. The Field Quality Advisor assures that all inspection and test requirements for the facilities are performed as per regulatory and customer requirements. The Field Quality Officer also supports the planning, organizing, controlling and directing daily and weekly operations to ensure production scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner and meets all safety and quality standard on construction sites and customer projects.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
  • Responsible for performing all aspects of inspection and audit activities with minimum supervision
  • Implement Quality Control Systems and processes
  • Review and understand Contracts, Scopes of work and Engineered drawings
  • Determine the requirements of clients and develop quality plans in order to ensure they are communicated to all relevant parties
  • Perform surveillance monitoring of project quality and ensure that requirements of quality are being followed
  • Interact with client representative and project team to resolve quality related issues
  • Interact with the customers QC inspectors for the resolution of site problems
  • Assist in non-conformance and corrective action investigation and reporting
  • Promote the ideals of the quality policy, continual improvement and importance of quality throughout the company
  • Assist in the maintenance of the field quality library


Additional Information

This position is designated as safety-sensitive making employment contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal and general background checks.

Schedule & Compensation
  • First initial project schedule will require 48 hours per week. Monday - Thursday 10 hour days, Friday 8 hour day. Position could also later entail a schedule rotation of 4 days on, 3 days off, however certain projects may require 8 days on, 6 days off, etc.
  • Overtime paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and 40 hours per week

Requirements

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of 2 years substation experience
  • Electrical Engineering Technologist or Journeyman Electrician is required
  • Protection and Control experience would be an asset
  • Must be able to read and understand construction and electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Utility Code is an asset
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is an asset
  • ISO 9001 auditor training is an asset
  • Project Document Management is an asset
  • Experience in the High Voltage Industry is a definite asset
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis in Excel is a definite asset
  • Bluebeam Software skills is an asset.
  • Valid Driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required
