Full Job Description
What You'll Be Doing

We're seeking a builder-minded Value Engineering leader who can translate ScaleOps' technical impact into clear business value for customers. In this role, you'll design the financial models, executive narratives, and repeatable field playbooks that help CFOs, CTOs, and infrastructure leaders understand the economic impact of autonomous cloud and Kubernetes optimization.
  • Design and deliver custom, bottoms-up financial models that quantify the business value of ScaleOps across infrastructure spend, operational overhead, licensing, developer productivity, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead executive-level whiteboard sessions, presentations, and boardroom discussions that connect ScaleOps' technical advantages to P&L impact, capital efficiency, and long-term competitive advantage.
  • Conduct discovery with senior customer stakeholders to understand how their Kubernetes environments create cost drag, operational fragility, or scalability constraints, and how ScaleOps can address those challenges.
  • Build the foundation of the Value Engineering practice, including discovery guides, ROI/TCO templates, technical-to-business pain mapping, champion decks, and customer win stories.
  • Partner closely with Sales Engineers, Account Executives, CSMs, and leadership to support active opportunities, validate business cases, accelerate deal velocity, and expand strategic accounts.
  • Create a strong feedback loop with Product by synthesizing customer patterns around ROI, infrastructure economics, and value realization into actionable roadmap input.
What Success Looks Like
  • In your first 6 months, you'll develop an engagement strategy and collaboration model with AEs, SEs, CSMs, and other field teams.
  • You'll build the core Value Engineering toolkit, including customer discovery guides, TCO/ROI templates, champion decks, and early customer win stories.
  • You'll produce at least one piece of external thought leadership and begin contributing to sales kickoff, executive briefings, and live deal business cases.
  • In your first year, you'll own the full Value Engineering motion from discovery through executive presentation and deal close.
  • You'll establish ScaleOps as a credible voice on Kubernetes TCO and infrastructure economics, while building a repeatable playbook the broader field team can use independently.
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, technical sales, value engineering, solutions consulting, or a related field, ideally in enterprise software, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or Kubernetes-adjacent markets.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including bottoms-up cost analysis, ROI frameworks, TCO modeling, and comfort connecting technical change to business outcomes.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to lead substantive discovery with engineering, platform, infrastructure, and finance leaders; familiarity with Kubernetes architecture, distributed systems, or cloud cost structures is highly valuable.
  • Proven ability to lead executive-level conversations and translate complex technical concepts into financial narratives that drive decisions.
  • Experience working consultatively alongside enterprise sales, technical, customer success, and product teams.
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to operate confidently in both boardroom presentations and hands-on working sessions.
  • A demonstrated practice of integrating AI tools into your daily workflow to improve speed, quality, analysis, planning, and decision-making.
  • A builder's mindset: this is a practice-building role where you'll create the playbook, not simply follow one.
