The Field CTO organization sits at the intersection of our customers’ most strategic technology priorities, our field teams, and our product organization. We work with senior technology and business leaders to help them navigate complex architectural decisions, define durable technology strategies, and translate those strategies into business outcomes.
🚀 About the Role
We are looking for a Field CTO specializing in Data Governance and Master Data Management (MDM) to help shape how our most strategic customers think about trusted, governed, enterprise data in an increasingly AI-driven world.
This is not simply a product specialist role. The ideal candidate brings a strong point of view on enterprise data architecture, governance, metadata, MDM, data quality, and the organizational models required to make them successful. They can engage credibly with Chief Data Officers, CIOs, Enterprise Architects, Data Governance leaders, and engineering organizations, while also helping our internal teams connect customer challenges to the broader Salesforce, Informatica, MuleSoft, Data Cloud, and Agentforce strategy.
📋 What You’ll Do
- Serve as a trusted technology advisor to strategic customers on **Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Quality, Metadata Management, and enterprise data architecture**.
- Engage with CIOs, CDOs, CTOs, Enterprise Architects, and other senior leaders to define data strategies aligned to their broader business and technology objectives.
- Help customers establish modern governance architectures that balance enterprise-wide standards and controls with the realities of decentralized business units, platforms, clouds, and data estates.
- Advise customers on MDM strategy, including domain modeling, identity resolution, hierarchy management, reference data, survivorship, stewardship, data quality, and the operational models required to sustain trusted master data.
- Connect traditional data management disciplines with emerging requirements created by **AI and autonomous agents**, including trusted context, governed access, semantic consistency, metadata, lineage, policy enforcement, and data quality.
- Develop architectural points of view for customers operating across complex hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Help customers understand the relationship between their data, integration, API, application, and AI strategies rather than treating each as an independent technology decision.
- Lead executive briefings, architecture workshops, strategy sessions, and other high-value customer engagements.
- Partner with Account Executives, Solution Engineers, Account Partners, and other field leaders on our most strategic and complex opportunities.
- Help shape account strategy where architecture, organizational complexity, or technology fragmentation represents a major barrier to customer transformation.
- Act as an escalation and advisory resource for complex customer architecture questions involving Data Governance and MDM.
- Bring patterns, lessons, competitive intelligence, and emerging customer requirements back to Product and Engineering leadership.
- Partner closely with Salesforce and Informatica product organizations to help influence roadmap priorities based on recurring strategic customer needs.
- Develop reusable thought leadership, architectural patterns, executive narratives, and field guidance that raise the technical credibility of the broader organization.
- Represent Salesforce externally with customers, partners, industry forums, executive events, and other thought-leadership opportunities.
- Mentor architects and technical leaders across the field and help strengthen our organizational depth in enterprise data architecture.
📃 About You
- You are equally comfortable in a boardroom, an architecture workshop, and a whiteboard session with deeply technical practitioners.
- You have strong opinions about enterprise data architecture, but you know when architecture needs to adapt to business reality.
- You understand that Data Governance is as much an operating-model and organizational problem as it is a technology problem.
- You can explain MDM without reducing it to matching, merging, and golden records—and can articulate its relevance to modern data, analytics, and AI architectures.
- You can navigate highly distributed and heterogeneous technology estates without assuming that everything needs to be consolidated onto one platform.
- You are a systems thinker who can connect data governance, integration, APIs, metadata, identity, analytics, applications, and AI.
- You can move fluidly between strategic conversations and detailed technical discussions.
- You build trust quickly with senior executives, architects, product leaders, sellers, and engineers.
- You communicate complex ideas simply, clearly, and with executive presence.
- You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping customers make decisions where there may not be a single obvious answer.
🎯 What We’re Looking For
- Significant experience in **enterprise data architecture, Data Governance, MDM, Data Quality, metadata, or closely related disciplines**.
- Deep understanding of enterprise MDM patterns, including customer, product, supplier, location, reference, and other master-data domains.
- Strong understanding of Data Governance operating models, policies, stewardship, ownership, lineage, metadata, data quality, and controls.
- Experience designing or advising on data architectures within large, complex enterprises.
- Experience working across heterogeneous environments that may include cloud data platforms, operational applications, integration platforms, APIs, data warehouses/lakes/lakehouses, and AI/ML platforms.
- Strong understanding of how data management practices must evolve to support generative AI, agents, and other AI-driven applications.
- Demonstrated ability to advise senior executives while retaining credibility with deeply technical audiences.
- Strong executive communication, storytelling, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to independently structure ambiguous customer problems and develop clear strategic recommendations.
- Track record of influencing complex decisions across organizations where authority is distributed across multiple stakeholders.
- Experience partnering with sales and solution engineering organizations in strategic enterprise accounts.
- Ability to translate technology capabilities into business outcomes without relying on product-first messaging.
💡 Preferred Experience
- Experience serving as a Chief Architect, Enterprise Architect, Field CTO, Office of the CTO leader, Data Architect, CDO advisor, or equivalent senior technology role.
- Deep expertise with Informatica MDM, IDMC, Data Governance and Catalog, Data Quality, or comparable enterprise platforms.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, MuleSoft, Data Cloud, Agentforce, or adjacent Salesforce technologies.
- Experience working with regulated industries or other environments where data governance, lineage, auditability, privacy, and policy enforcement are particularly important.
- Experience developing enterprise-wide data or MDM programs spanning multiple business units, geographies, or technology platforms.
- Public speaking, industry thought leadership, published architecture guidance, or experience representing an organization with executive audiences is a plus.
🏆 What Success Looks Like
- Success in this role is not measured simply by participation in sales opportunities. A successful Field CTO will:
- Become a trusted advisor to some of our most strategic customers.
- Improve the quality and ambition of customer conversations around Data Governance and MDM.
- Help customers move from isolated technology decisions toward coherent enterprise data strategies.
- Create architectural patterns and thought leadership that can scale beyond individual accounts.
- Increase alignment between customer needs, our field organization, and Product and Engineering.
- * Help establish Salesforce and Informatica as credible strategic partners for customers building the trusted data foundation required for analytics, applications, and AI.
