Ascella Technologies is looking for a
Federal Accounting SME to serve as a functional analyst who helps translate complex legacy ledger data into clear system logic for our technical development teams. Your work directly assists in mapping outdated financial models to new cloud software configurations. This ensures that the newly implemented platform aligns with necessary federal accounting and internal control guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:- Functional Model Translation: Deconstruct manual federal ledger records, treasury guidelines, and legacy accounting tables, translating them into technical Functional Requirement Models (FRMs).
- Data Quality Validation: Analyze transactional exceptions and variance alerts to build automated data-quality patterns, reference data crosswalks, and cleansing logic.
- Customer Support: Provide functional technical support to end-users, field offices, and financial hubs, ensuring their business concerns are resolved during system cuts.
Must-Have Skills (Required)- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- 10+ years of professional industry experience navigating complex enterprise-wide financial management applications.
- 5+ years acting as a dedicated accounting or functional SME, translating manual ledgers, sub-ledgers, and business practices for technical developers.
- Clear understanding of federal accounting policies, including regulations such as OMB Circulars (A-123, A-127) or Treasury Financial Manual standards.
- Proven ability to capture functional requirements, define user story acceptance criteria, and contribute to Requirements Traceability Matrices.
Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)- Direct functional experience with legacy federal core accounting systems or modern CGI Momentum platforms.
- Experience collaborating with data scientists or technical data cleansers to optimize crosswalk validation logic.
Position: Accounting SME
Location: Washington, DC (mostly remote)
Base Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, and we are open to discussing compensation based on your qualifications and experience
