Fairchild Media Group: Senior Video Editor

FMG (WWD, Beauty Inc, Footwear News, Sourcing Journal) is seeking an experienced Senior Video Editor to bring our editorial and custom content to life through compelling video across multiple platforms. The Senior Video Editor will partner with creative and edit teams to develop concepts into engaging and timely content that evolve with the changing landscape of social media and expectations of our readers. This role will report to our Visual Director and own day-to-day workflow organization, on-site execution, and post-production for all video across FMG brands.

As FMG values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with leadership and video stakeholders on overall strategy and execution
  • Lead the production process and execution of ideas across all video series - including shooting, lighting, editing and sound. Guiding freelancers when necessary to ensure editorial standards are met
  • Deliver high quality video on deadline, with attention to pacing, narrative and visual impact as well as story clarity and brand POV
  • Contribute creative ideas and input to elevate concepts
  • Coach and guide on-camera talent as needed for best results
  • Build video templates and develop re-usable formats for repeated topics and series
  • Attend in-person events and shoots to support onsite production needs
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders in development of video brand assets and custom content when needed
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Innovative mindset, constantly striving to learn new formats, try new things and learn new tools and trends.
  • Archive necessary video assets on DAM system

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in editorial video production, including shooting, editing and post-production, or related field
  • Reliable network of freelancers with editing and filming experience, with willingness to grow this network globally
  • Advanced proficiency with various camera systems, lighting, audio and with editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Inform platform-specific approaches, audience growth opportunities, and content innovation to expand reach, engagement, and brand impact
  • Experience with color correction and grading
  • Strong understanding of what performs well on editorial platforms vs various social channels, with insight into what makes each successful
  • A strong understanding of pacing, structure, and framing, and insight into what makes content engrossing, shareable and successful
  • Familiarity with brand marketing and branded content development, experience working with advertising partners in content development
  • Capable of handling onsite filming, technical setup, and post-production self sufficiently when needed
  • Organized, calm and detail oriented when faced with large productions and high pressure sets
  • Experience working within an editorial news media or fashion organization, with an understanding of journalistic standards.
  • Requires 4 in office days per week + on location/set when needed
