Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). We are now operating Polaris, our next prototype on the path to the world's first fusion power plant.

This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths - values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.

In this role, you'll be the primary engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and owning the mechanical systems that power Helion's facilities. From HVAC and utilities to specialized building systems, you'll set the standard for how our environments are designed, built, and maintained.

You'll work closely with partners in operations, EH&S, Production and engineering to ensure our buildings are safe, reliable, and efficient. This role blends hands-on engineering with project leadership - ideal for someone who thrives on taking complex projects from concept through completion in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This is an onsite role that reports directly to the Senior Manager of Facilities at our Everett, WA office.

You Will:
  • Own the design, performance, and lifecycle of mechanical systems, including HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, exhaust, and other utilities
  • Establish and maintain standards for mechanical infrastructure across new and existing sites
  • Lead facility mechanical projects - from scope and design through construction, commissioning, and operations
  • Troubleshoot system issues and drive continuous improvement in reliability, sustainability, and cost efficiency
  • Manage contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure quality and compliance with technical and safety requirements
  • Partner with EH&S to maintain compliance with codes, permitting, and environmental regulations
  • Contribute to long-term facilities planning to support Helion's expansion

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities, building systems engineering, or mechanical infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, utilities, plumbing, and building automation systems
  • Proven ability to own projects end-to-end, balancing technical depth with execution
  • Experience collaborating with contractors, design teams, and permitting authorities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner across technical and non-technical teams
