The Job You Will Perform:The Springfield Mill, located in Springfield OR, is a complex, fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility that produces containerboard liner. The mill consists of multiple processes, including paper machine, chip handling, pulping, power, OCC, recovery and effluent treatment.
The Facilities FLL is the leader of the maintenance/utilities team and is charged with safety, quality, environmental compliance, employee engagement and hourly team development, while at the same time using a systems based approach to build long-term stability. This position has a team of hourly direct reports and works closely with operational areas, maintenance teams and engineering. A successful candidate will instill safety as a core value and communicate a shared vision for safety. They will approach positional responsibilities in an inclusive manner by engaging all team members in area, department, and mill. Job responsibilities include the following:
- Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results
- Build effective systems and materials such as maintenance procedures (SOPs) and other training materials
- Support engagement processes to ensure the crews have ownership and feel valued within the organization
- Coordinate within the Maintenance Department and other business units to optimize mill and area reliability/maintenance needs
- Support the Manufacturing Work Systems (MWS) process to prioritize and plan daily work, routine outages, and annual outages, including operational, maintenance, and contractor tasks
- Successfully execute daily maintenance work at a high productivity level, including responsibilities/auditing to ensure consistent documentation of work on systems like PM's and fire systems
- Coordinate outages and other routine work as needed with contractors, maintenance and operations
- Serve as a contractor coordinator (IPCC rep) as required
- Lead ongoing improvement efforts related to asset preservation including asphalt, roofs, railroad
- Participate in accountability follow-ups with employees as needed and when appropriate
- Manage costs and meet budget targets
- Provide support for annual budgeting cycle targeted at delivering year-over-year improvements
- Fulfill mechanical on-call team expectations
The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:- Minimum 5 years of maintenance (or other equivalent) experience is required
- Strong commitment to safety in all aspects of business operations
- Strong interpersonal leadership skills and ability to motivate others
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
