Qualifications/Requirements:

The incumbent will be the Utilities and Subsystems (US) Integrated Product Team Deputy Lead Engineer. The US Deputy Lead Engineer provides technical leadership to the US IPT and works closely with the US Military Lead and US Lead Engineer. Utilities and Subsystems includes the following disciplines; Hydraulics and Utility Actuation (HUA); Power and Thermal Management Systems (PTMS); Electrical Power Systems (EPS); Fuel Systems; Mechanisms; Fire Protection Systems (FPS), Harness and Interconnect (HI); and Landing Gear and Arresting Systems (LAGS). The US Team Lead coordinates all IPT activities and ensures that team leads and their responsible engineers attend all appropriate program level reviews such as PDRs, CDRs, and PRRs and provide support to program activities such as Change Review Boards and Major Variance Request Reviews. The US Team Lead coordinates subject matter review of aircraft operating limitations and flight clearances and is a delegated signatory for System Design and Development (SDD) phase flight clearances. The US Deputy Lead Engineer represents the IPT at leadership meetings and works with the Air Vehicle leadership to ensure that the F-35 program remains on schedule and within budget. The US Deputy Lead Engineer helps determine IPT staffing levels and provides activity reports both internally and externally. The incumbent will brief leadership when requested and lead efforts to resolve issues or address incidents pertaining to the US IPT. The US Deputy Lead Engineer works closely with other IPT leads to ensure that proper communication is maintained. As the USAF member of the US IPT leadership team, the US Deputy Lead Engineer is the primary POC within AFLCMC/WJ related to US airworthiness and the lead for F-35A flight clearance activities.

In this position, you will serve as the Utilities and Subsystems Deputy Lead Engineer, providing technical leadership and managing engineering activities for the F-35 program.

U.S. Citizenship

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security clearance.

Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering.

10 or more years of experience in the acquisition of military aircraft.

5 or more years of experience as a subject matter expert in engineering disciplines such as Hydraulics and Utility Actuation, Auxiliary Power Systems, Environmental Control Systems, Electrical Power Systems, Fuel Systems, Fire Protection Systems, Harness and Interconnect Systems, or Landing Gear and Arresting Systems.

Experience in airworthiness certification of military aircraft.

Must be able to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 20%.

Responsible for managing and providing technical direction for all engineering activities and presenting topics to program leadership.

Leads the completion and verifies the accuracy of airworthiness assessments required to support flight tests and production implementation.

Supervises assigned engineers and maintains appropriate staffing levels for all disciplines.
