In alignment with our core corporate purpose—"Doing now what patients need next"—the External Warehouse Manager serves as the enterprise-level subject matter expert responsible for the strategic alignment, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance of local external warehouse partners. This individual exercises a high-level influence and leadership in a matrixed organization to drive storage efficiency, order validation accuracy, and inventory control
This individual designs, implements, and manages continuous-loop improvements for third-party logistics (3PL) workflows to elevate the customer experience, contain costs, and maintain absolute alignment with industry regulations and Roche corporate standards.
What You Do
Design and implement regional distribution & storage strategies that align with external storage partners capabilities.
Proactively anticipate shifts in logistics distribution capabilities with the global supply chain ecosystem to position external storage partners ahead of emerging geo-political constraints.
Design and implement operational workflows and processes to manage warehouse capabilities at external storage partners from order to delivery.
Oversee and evaluate business continuity models across external storage partners to secure supply chain resiliency.
Partner and oversee external storage partner teams, focusing on technical competence, understanding of internal operational standards and operational accuracy.
Influence external storage partners to utilize analytical data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement activities.
Proactive liaison between external storage partners and internal stakeholders.
Drive innovation and accelerate transitions during the deployment of new warehouse automations and shifting product portfolio demands.
Partner directly with external storage partner(s) leadership teams to ensure service delivery meets or exceeds Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and cost-containment targets.
Who You Are
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related operations/scientific discipline is strongly preferred.
5-7 years of progressive supply chain, logistics, or external storage partner governance experience, with documented expertise in analytical clinical/laboratory logistics or high-density warehouse operations.
Proven track record of operating successfully as an expert-level individual contributor, demonstrating the ability to influence external management teams, and drive enterprise outcomes without direct line authority.
Technical & Soft Skills
Deep, specialized knowledge of operations and supply chain constraints within the Diagnostics or life sciences industry preferred.
Certified or heavily proficient in Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies, with a passion for data-driven decision-making.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts, manage vendor P&L metrics, and resolve sophisticated cross-functional problems through collaboration.
Proficient at managing both internal and external stakeholders on driving cost controls, operational efficiencies, metrics, and continuous improvement
Experience in SAP preferred but not required
Exceptional negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills. You must be comfortable managing vendors firmly but collaboratively

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is $109,000 - $202,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
