What You’ll Be Doing

We are seeking a highly skilled technologist with deep understanding of the corporate and investment banking business. The primary objective of this role is to support the growth of the business by ensuring our technology systems and processes are fit for purpose, scalable, and aligned with business needs. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and partner with technology to develop and execute a technology roadmap that bridges business requirements with technological capabilities

Business Planning and Management:

You will help execute Global Corporate and Investment Banking’s (‘GCIB’) strategy, aligning technology initiatives to enable GCIB to achieve its mandate, goals, and objectives. You will set strategic plans that align with GCIB’s overall vision.

Relationship Management & Collaboration:

You will build effective relationships with internal stakeholders to successfully execute initiatives and bring new clients and capabilities to market. You’ll communicate complex concepts clearly and elegantly, collaborating closely with business partners to understand their challenges by asking insightful questions and gathering necessary information. Your ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of business problems will enable you to address any questions or concerns raised by our partners, ensuring alignment and fostering productive collaboration.

  • Collaborate with senior leaders across business lines, technology, risk, operations, and data teams to deliver integrated and scalable product solutions.

  • Drive market intelligence, including competitor analysis, customer insights, and regulatory developments, to inform product and transformation strategy.

  • Ensure robust product lifecycle management from ideation through to launch and post-launch optimization, with a focus on data integrity and risk management.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement within the team.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of product strategists, transformation leaders, and data specialists.

  • Present strategic recommendations, business cases, and transformation progress updates to executive management and relevant governance committees.

Who You Are

Executive Director - Product Strategy & Transformation for Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) will be responsible for shaping and executing the strategic vision, driving transformational change, and championing digital and data-driven innovation across the GCIB product suite. This executive will lead complex, cross-functional initiatives, including the development of robust data models and taxonomies that underpin product excellence and operational efficiency. The role requires a visionary leader with proven experience in transformation, data strategy, and the ability to influence at the highest levels of a global financial institution.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate & investment banking, with a focus on product strategy, transformation, or innovation.

  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale transformation and change management initiatives, including data-driven projects, within a global financial institution.

  • Deep expertise in data modeling, taxonomy development, and data governance as applied to banking products and services.

  • Strong knowledge of global banking products, regulatory landscape, and emerging market and technology trends.

  • Proven ability to benchmark and implement best practices from leading global banks.

  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills at the executive level.

  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a track record of data-driven decision making.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $180,000 - $244,600 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
