Eagle Health Analytics has contracted with CDC's Mycotic Diseases Branch to provide scientific support and services for laboratory, communication and epidemiology within the Mycotic Diseases Branch. The overall objective is to provide laboratory, epidemiology, public health, and communication support to the branch as it strives to detect and respond to mycotic diseases and provide technical assistance to the United States jurisdictions.
EpidemiologistEHA will provide epidemiologists, mapped to surveillance system support, analytic work, QA/QC, partner coordination, protocol and case definition support, report preparation, manuscripts/abstracts, and outbreak response. Advanced skills in epidemiologic principles, infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, R/Python or equivalent statistical software, and surveillance data systems such as REDCap, is required.
The epidemiology approach has five components:
- Surveillance design and maintenance. EHA epidemiologists will help develop and update surveillance protocols, case definitions, case report forms, user guides, and data collection tools consistent with CDC policies and Government direction.
- Data acquisition and management. EHA will coordinate with CDC and authorized partners to support timely data submission, validation, deduplication, cleaning, and documentation. Data sources, systems, and access requests will be governed by CDC procedures.
- Quality assurance and control. EHA will conduct planned and ad hoc surveillance data QA/QC audits, identify missingness and inconsistencies, document queries and resolutions, and provide data quality summaries to CDC.
- Analytic support. EHA will conduct routine and complex analyses using R, Python, or other CDC-approved tools. Analyses may include descriptive summaries, regression, multivariable modeling, trend analysis, outbreak-specific analyses, and preparation of reproducible code and data documentation.
- Reporting and dissemination support. EHA will draft or contribute to surveillance reports, internal briefs, abstracts, manuscripts, tables, figures, and partner-facing summaries. Any manuscripts, abstracts, or public-facing products will follow CDC clearance and authorship requirements.
For outbreak or surge events, EHA will use an incident-priority model: confirm the public health question, identify immediate data and laboratory inputs, establish daily or agreed-upon analytic updates, document assumptions and limitations, and route outputs to CDC task leads for interpretation and decision making.
QUALIFICATIONS:a. Master of Public Health (MPH), MS, or equivalent graduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a closely related field; OR
b. Combination of education and progressively responsible experience in epidemiology equivalent to a graduate-level degree.
c. 3-5 years experience working in public health with state or local health partners
d. Advanced knowledge of epidemiologic principles, infectious disease surveillance, and outbreak investigation.
e. Strong analytic skills using large datasets and statistical software (e.g., R, Python).
f. Experience developing and managing surveillance databases (e.g., REDCap).
g. Ability to independently manage multiple complex priorities.
h. Strong written and oral communication skills, including scientific writing.
i. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across CDC centers and with external partners.
