As an Environmental Coordinator working in the Operational Support team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a vital role in helping project teams ensure environmental and contractual compliance on our projects. Supporting our large-scale building and infrastructure projects - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion - you will have the opportunity to provide advice, support and assistance to ensure legislative compliance.

What you will do
• Develop, validate, and implement environmental plans in collaboration with project teams (e.g., Environmental Protection Plans, Erosion Control Plans, Waste Management Plans, LEED Plans, etc.).
• Provide advisory support to project teams on environmental issues, including dewatering, erosion and sediment control, contaminated soils, and sensitive environments.
• Coordinate and support project teams in meeting sustainability certification objectives such as LEED and Green Globes.
• Assist with permits and regulatory compliance, ensuring timely approvals and adherence to local, provincial, and federal regulations.
• Conduct weekly site visits to monitor project progress, provide technical support, and ensure environmental standards are met.
• Review and verify subcontractor compliance with environmental requirements and contractual obligations.
• Develop and distribute training materials to enhance awareness and best practices.
• Track and report environmental performance indicators (e.g., non-conformities, spills, residual materials, best practices).
• Identify risks, challenges, and opportunities for improvement within projects and support the development of practical solutions.
• Act as a resource for superintendents and managers, guiding teams on environmental matters while fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.

This role could be for you if you have
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, sustainable development, engineering, geology or a similar field.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in the environmental field, ideally in a construction or infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (e.g. ISO 14001)
• Experience coordinating and managing project permits, ensuring compliance with local regulations and timely approvals.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams.
• Experience in sampling and environmental monitoring.
• Strong understanding of BC environmental regulations, permitting processes and compliance requirements.
Additional Assets Include:
• Have a professional designation (RPBio., P.Ag., P.Eng., PA LEED etc.) or in training status, or willing to obtain.
