Job SummaryThe Enterprise Windows Desktop Engineer will contribute to ongoing initiatives related to the design, configuration, integration, and support of enterprise Windows desktop and laptop endpoints. The role will own engineering and operational tasks from beginning to end while ensuring solutions meet security, supportability, performance, availability, and user experience requirements. The position requires a strong technical foundation, strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a globally distributed team.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure developed solutions meet security, supportability, and performance requirements identified by stakeholders, regulators, and the organization.
- Ensure enterprise desktop solutions meet business expectations for high availability, performance, and overall user experience.
- Provide Level 3 support for existing systems, investigating escalated issues and identifying root causes.
- Contribute to ongoing initiatives related to Windows desktop platforms, endpoint management, tooling, and enterprise technologies.
- Own engineering and operational tasks from initiation through completion.
- Design and implement technical solutions that address complex business requirements.
- Create, review, maintain, and disseminate technical and operational knowledge through documentation and demonstrations.
- Share knowledge of technologies, tools, and methodologies with peers and partnering support teams.
- Support enterprise Windows desktop and laptop endpoints, including hardware, drivers, firmware, and related technologies.
- Develop and maintain automation and self-service capabilities for enterprise workflows.
- Support enterprise workload migrations to cloud-based platforms and services.
- Troubleshoot complex Windows endpoint and infrastructure issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable and supportable solutions.
Required Qualifications- 7-15 years of advanced experience in Windows desktop engineering or a related technical field.
- Deep technical understanding of Windows operating systems, including Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2019.
- Experience with Windows 11 Intune Modern Management.
- Expertise with operating system deployment (OSD) orchestration and software delivery concepts.
- Advanced scripting skills using PowerShell.
- Extensive experience with enterprise workload migration to cloud platforms, including migration of network drive content to Microsoft OneDrive for Business.
- Strong knowledge of Windows infrastructure technologies, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/NRPT, PKI/CA, RADIUS, and NPS.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze event logs, use SysInternals tools, and analyze memory dumps.
- Experience automating workflows and providing self-service capabilities.
- Knowledge of client and server hardware management within an enterprise environment.
- Experience designing technical solutions to meet complex business requirements.
- Ability to create technical and operational documentation, including design documents, support documents, operational runbooks, and internal knowledge base articles.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within a globally distributed team.
- Ability to contribute to and own engineering and operational activities from beginning to end.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Windows Modern Management technologies, including Intune, Autopilot, and Windows 365.
- Strong knowledge of desktop and laptop hardware in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with performance optimization and enterprise hardware management, including driver, firmware, and BIOS management.
- Understanding of Agile principles and their practical application.
- Experience with infrastructure and service management systems, including Jira and ServiceNow.
