Position Description: We are seeking a highly strategic Enterprise Architect to lead a large scale Application Rationalization initiative. This role requires a professional who can balance enterprise level efficiency with the operational needs of diverse mission and business stakeholders. The selected candidate will lead a team of technical and functional members, and will work directly with client leadership to inventory, analyze, and assess an application portfolio of more than 100 systems, guide rationalization decisions, and develop a comprehensive multi year roadmap that aligns technology architecture with organizational strategy. The ideal candidate brings a strong AI background and professional interest in building and using AI solutions. They also bring strong analytical expertise, advanced stakeholder diplomacy, and the ability to champion enterprise modernization in an environment where autonomy, complexity, and legacy systems intersect.
This position is located in Washington, D.C.
Your future duties and responsibilities: Partner with stakeholders to inventory, document, and assess the full application portfolio, including functional capabilities, dependencies, data flows, technical posture, compliance factors, and lifecycle considerations.
Lead application rationalization using industry best practices and structured frameworks to identify redundancies, modernization candidates, consolidation opportunities, and systems for decommissioning.
Facilitate decision making on application disposition (retain, replatform, modernize, consolidate, retire) through business capability mapping, value stream insight, and Total Cost of Ownership analysis.
Develop target state architectures and incremental transition roadmaps that align with enterprise strategy and modernization principles.
Engage organizational leaders through collaborative workshops, negotiations, and consensus building discussions to support shared services, enterprise solutions, and cloud forward approaches.
Support cloud modernization efforts by identifying opportunities to move toward SaaS and PaaS platforms across major FedRAMP authorized cloud providers.
Assess data interoperability challenges and provide architectural direction that reduces data silos, supports real time data needs, and strengthens authoritative data sources.
Produce high quality documentation and executive ready materials for leadership
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture, application portfolio management, or large modernization initiatives.
Hands on experience building and using agentic AI solutions
Strong ability to design target architectures and multi year transition roadmaps.
Proven experience conducting application rationalization using established federal frameworks or methodologies.
High emotional intelligence with proven success navigating diverse stakeholder groups, resolving conflicts, and building alignment.
Ability to map business capabilities, analyze value streams, and translate findings into actionable architecture recommendations.
Knowledge of cloud native modernization strategies and FedRAMP authorized SaaS/PaaS platforms.
Experience evaluating data architectures, integration patterns, and interoperability challenges.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to create polished, executive facing materials.
Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:
Experience supporting organizations with distributed ownership models.
Hands on experience with enterprise platform consolidation or cloud modernization initiatives.
Background in financial system modernization, audit alignment, or enterprise governance.
Knowledge of business capability modeling, TOGAF, or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
Consulting experience with a focus on digital transformation, strategic planning, or portfolio governance.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 $218,200.00.
