This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Job Description

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Position Specific Details:
  • Multiple positions available
  • Shifts :A Shift, Monday - Friday (7:00am - 3:30pm) B | Mon-Thu (3pm-1:30am), C | Fri-Sun (5am-5:30pm), D | Fri-Sun (5pm - 5:30am)
  • Location: Huntsville, AL


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Own manufacturing work instructions for hardware processes: inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, and integration
  • Manage build sequence, cost, quality, and schedule across manufacturing lifecycle
  • Review drawings, approve manufacturing processes, make go/no-go decisions
  • Build process controls and statistical analysis frameworks
  • Design, procure, install custom manufacturing equipment and fixtures
  • Execute capacity analysis and root cause investigations; deploy fixes
  • Create BOMs, routings, work instructions for fabrication, assembly, and testing
  • Drive DFMA and DFX principles into design processes
  • Generate, manage, close NCs rapidly
  • Lead test procedures, operate automated test equipment
  • Troubleshoot anomalies real-time, develop recovery plans
  • Analyze and archive test data, generate verification artifacts

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Embody the builder, doer, and owner mentality to revolutionize valve manufacturing
  • Experience in a manufacturing engineering role: 3+ years Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, 8+ years Sr Manufacturing Engineer)
  • 3+ years manufacturing engineering experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment supporting constantly evolving design iterations
  • Engineering fundamentals in mechanical design and manufacturing
  • Lean manufacturing methodology experience
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications to develop written work instructions and test procedures
  • Communicates effectively across organization levels
  • Hands-on hardware manufacturing experience (machining, welding, assembly, NDT, leak testing, MES)
  • Track record of completing manufacturing projects (DFMA, cycle time reduction, mistake-proofing)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in aerospace or high-reliability valve and thrusters design and production.
  • Demonstrated history in the design and manufacture of aerospace or high-reliability valves.
  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in mechanical engineering roles with practical machining or assembly involvement.
  • CAD expertise (Creo, NX, etc.) in designing valve components or assemblies.
  • Strong track record of effective collaboration in cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
  • Advanced skills in special machining processes critical to valve production, such as CNC or micro-machining.
  • Experience with testing protocols specific to aerospace valves, including high-pressure, cryogenic, and environmental testing.
