Position Overview:

Join our dynamic team as an Engineering Unit Manager at our facility located in Mount Vernon, Indiana. In this pivotal role, you will provide exceptional engineering services for our diverse range of products. As a key player in all of our processes, you will assist Operations, Quality and Program departments, ensuring that all activities align with customer contract requirements and industry standards.

Your expertise will guide the development and review of procedures, determine procedures necessary to produce our high-quality products. You will play an essential role in coaching and leading engineering teams to support all aspects of the business.

Your Day to Day as an Engineering Unit Manager:
  • Fosters a safe, organized, and respectful work environment.

  • Manages all engineering activity for assigned areas.
  • Assesses resource needs; interviews, hires & on boards new engineers and makes resource adjustments to handle changing project needs.
  • Manages direct reports:
  • Encourages a questioning attitude to ensure a safe work environment and the highest quality standards.
  • Clearly communicates job expectations and performance requirements.
  • Make assignments and adjusts to support project needs.
  • Manages employee performance through the evaluation of expectations and objectives, including safe working practices, quality of work, compliance to procedures, and completion of deliverables.
  • Motivates and challenges the team to perform at the next level, identifies opportunities to further develop their individual skillsets and supports their career development within the Company.
  • Coaches employees to realign performance to expectations.
  • Manages employee attendance, training and expense records through electronic systems.
  • Oversees and completes engineering approvals for requirement deviations, drawing, manufacturing instructions, procedures, contract requirement reviews, design and purchase order approvals.
  • Organizes & oversees engineering initiatives.
  • Manages an assigned budget.
  • Initiates Investigations of quality deviations for cause and any corrective actions, approves initiation of corrective actions.
  • Maintains product status to ensure engineering support requirements are being met, captures support requirements & priorities while directing team accordingly.
  • Supports Cost Prediction, Proposal, and Outsourcing Processes by providing and verifying hours and cost estimate inputs.
  • Provides or verifies span change recommendations.

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering with 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience is required.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, but similar disciplines should also apply.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; contribute to technical teams and establish effective working relationships with others is required.
  • Prior experience leading project teams in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

Pay: $99,000.00 - $157,000.00

The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $99,000.00 and $157,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
