About the RoleWe're hiring an Engineering Site Lead to help build and anchor Marble's engineering presence as we scale our AI-first tax platform.
You'll split your time between hands-on technical work, leading engineers, and helping shape the culture, operating rhythm, and hiring bar for our team. You'll own complex systems while helping engineers around you do their best work.
This role is especially important as we grow our engineering team. You'll be expected to act as a technical leader, help onboard new engineers, create strong feedback loops with our team, and model the level of ownership, judgment, and execution we expect from future hires.
You'll work closely with our Founder, Head of Product and Engineering and founding team to shape how we build, how we hire, and how we operate as an engineering organization.
This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, people leadership, and site-building. What You'll Do- Lead and help build Marble's engineering presence, setting the tone for technical quality, ownership, and team culture.
- Serve as a technical leader for our engineers, helping unblock work, mentor teammates, and raise the bar.
- Lead a team of engineers across one or more product areas, setting direction, unblocking work, and raising the bar.
- Own complex, enterprise-scale technical problems end to end, from architecture decisions to production.
- Partner with our Founder, Head of Product and Engineering and founding team to define engineering processes, hiring standards, and team structure as we grow.
- Create strong collaboration loops between our engineering teams.
- Drive technical decisions across the stack with a bias for pragmatism and long-term scalability.
- Actively recruit, onboard, and develop engineers on your team.
- Work directly with product and founders to translate business needs into technical roadmap.
What We're Looking For- 10+ years of engineering experience with a track record of leading or managing high-performing teams.
- Experience owning complex, enterprise-grade technical systems end to end.
- Strong full-stack background with depth in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
- Experience helping build or scale an engineering team, office, or local engineering hub.
- Strong communication and leadership presence, especially in cross-office or distributed team environments.
- Comfort being the senior technical voice in a growing office while still staying close to the code.
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where the problems are not yet defined.
- Low-ego, high-ownership mindset. You lead by doing, not by delegating.
Bonus Points- Experience building AI or agentic products.
- Background in tax, legal, fintech, or another highly regulated domain.
- Experience scaling an engineering team from small to mid-size.
- Experience building a strong engineering culture across multiple offices or locations.
