JOB SUMMARY:

The Engineering Practices and Support Supervisor provides leadership and direction for Georgia Power's Distribution Engineering Best Practices team, Construction Tools Distribution Support Specialist, Best Practice Analyst, and Standards Support Engineer.

This position ensures consistent application of engineering standards, supports the safe and effective use of construction tools, and drives continuous improvement in engineering work practices across the distribution organization. The supervisor plays a key role in ensuring compliance with company standards and policies, facilitating knowledge sharing, and supporting the professional development of distribution engineers and field personnel.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Oversight
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Best Practices team, Construction Tools Distribution Support Specialist, Best Practice Analyst, and Standards Support Engineer.
  • Foster collaboration across engineering, operations, and standards groups to ensure alignment with company goals and initiatives.
  • Manage team workload, priorities, and performance to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.


Distribution Engineering Best Practices
  • Lead the Best Practices team in reviewing distribution projects from each operating area to ensure compliance with Distribution Bulletins, Construction Standards, and the Engineering Handbook.
  • Oversee preparation of agendas and hosting of the Distribution Project Review Team (DPRT) meetings.
  • Ensure timely communication of DPRT meeting summaries and project approvals to the T&D Council.
  • Oversee development of continuing education classes for engineers based on insights from best practice reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Klondike Training Center to deliver training sessions at area headquarters.
  • Track and manage the Distribution Planning and New Business budgets.


Construction Tools Distribution Support
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Construction Tools Distribution Support Specialist.
  • Oversee onboarding, evaluation, and approval of new tools for the Line Construction Department.
  • Ensure safety and effectiveness through case studies and testing prior to system-wide implementation.
  • Maintain close coordination with the PPE and Rubber Goods Testing Lab at Mississippi Power.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding rubber goods processes and tool updates.
  • Support Distribution Construction Supervisor and Trouble Response Supervisor Roundtables by sharing new tools and work practices.


Distribution Standards Support
  • Provide leadership to the Standards Support Engineer in assisting Principal Standards Engineers with the development, documentation, and maintenance of engineering standards, specifications, and policies.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across Georgia Power's distribution standards program.
  • Oversee drafting, editing, and coordination of technical documentation and policy updates.
  • Support feedback collection from subject matter experts and maintain document repositories.
  • Facilitate communication of standards updates and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred minimum of 7 years of experience in distribution engineering, standards development, or utility operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with cross-functional teams.
