Location: Orlando, FL, 32819 | Full-Time | 2nd Shift (4/10A)
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine special processes for painting, priming, plating, and coating lines.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Industrial, and Quality Engineers, as well as Production teams, to resolve shop-floor technical challenges.
- Create and update detailed work instructions and shop-floor documentation to support efficient production.
- Design fixture and tooling concepts, producing accurate drawings to streamline operations.
- Provide direct shop-floor support, troubleshooting manufacturing issues to ensure smooth workflow.
- Conduct root cause analyses on component non-conformance and implement effective corrective actions.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on project performance regarding quality, schedule, and cost.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and optimize processes.
- Train and mentor team members while remaining open to ongoing learning opportunities.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combined education/experience.
- 3+ years' manufacturing engineering experience within a production environment.
- 3+ years' hands-on experience with painting, priming, plating, and coating lines.
- Proven ability to drive root cause corrective action and resolve quality defects.
- Demonstrated experience authoring and updating work and rework instructions.
- Familiarity with non-conforming material procedures and participation in MRB.
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration for troubleshooting and process improvement.
- Knowledge of military specifications for materials, paints, and coatings.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Working knowledge of Lean 6S, continuous improvement, and strong analytical/problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communicator in a technical, fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CARC paint, nickel plating, passivation, and surface prep procedures.
- Background in capital investment and automation for painting/coating processes.
- Competency with precision measuring tools and gauges.
- 3D printing and CAD tooling design (CREO/NX).
- Familiarity with ISO9000, AS9100, and military standards.
- Experience validating chemical solutions (titration, pH), plating line testing, and hazardous chemical handling/disposal.
- Monitoring production equipment and DI water systems.
- Strong safety record in chemistry/manufacturing environments.
