As part of our team in Core AI Foundations, you will work on a large scale distributed system that is critical for Machine Learning infra at Google scale. Our team has been empowering most of the AI/ML workloads for Ads, Search, and YouTube for years. It is being expanded to support Gemini, GenMedia, Waymo, Workspace, Google Pay, and more and more Product Areas. In this role, you will have infra experience, be outcome driven, have passion for technology, and work in a fast growing environment.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. Responsibilities
  • Develop individual contributors into technical leaders and domain owners, guide performance reviews, promotion trajectories, and career advancement.
  • Serve as the local anchor and culture carrier for the Pittsburgh site, aligning local execution with global multi-site strategy and cross-functional partners.
  • Partner with technical leads to componentize the stack, aligning our core primitives with shared storage infrastructure across the broader organization.
  • Evolve systems capable of supporting data growth and intensive write fan-in from distributed training jobs and continuous logging.
  • Collaborate with premier customer engineering teams (e.g., Gemini Pre-Training, DeepMind, Ads ML, Search, YouTube, Waymo) to translate emerging ML workload patterns into core storage capabilities.
