Position Description

The Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers to deliver high-quality technical solutions aligned with organizational and project objectives. This role provides both people leadership and technical oversight, ensuring effective execution across the engineering lifecycle. The Engineering Manager partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize work, allocate resources, and remove execution barriers. This position plays a critical role in developing engineering talent, maintaining standards, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering staff through coaching, performance management, and career development planning.
  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee engineering activities to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Provide technical oversight for design, analysis, development, and implementation efforts.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, processes, and documentation practices.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, quality, and program management to align technical deliverables with business goals.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables, designs, and technical decisions.
  • Manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and capacity planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and risk reduction.
  • Monitor and report performance metrics, risks, and progress to senior leadership.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and succession planning for the engineering team.


Required Education & Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including at least 3-5 years in a people management or technical leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and deliver complex technical projects.
  • Strong technical background relevant to the organization's engineering discipline(s).
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives and balancing competing priorities.
  • Proven capability to establish and enforce engineering standards and best practices.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience with project planning, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs related to cost, schedule, performance, and risk.
  • Experience operating within regulated, manufacturing, technology, or industrial environments preferred.


Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
  • Master's degree, MBA, Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, or leadership certifications preferred.
