As the Engineering Manager of Information Architecture, you will be responsible for delivering business value by defining, organizing, and governing information through best practices in enterprise information modeling, taxonomy, metadata management, and content labeling.

This role offers an opportunity to combine a passion for data with the discipline of information architecture to support strategic initiatives focused on donor engagement, personalization, and capacity-to-give insights. You will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to advance strategic data initiatives, foster cross-functional collaboration, promote innovation in knowledge management and advanced analytics, and provide leadership in information management, agile data governance, and modern data security and protection practices.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Leads and develops technical teams responsible for supporting information architecture and related software platforms. Establishes and promotes best practices, standards, and processes for application design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and documentation. Mentors Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, and other team members across multiple product teams while ensuring alignment with organizational quality and information security standards.
  • Partners with the Director, Platform to develop and implement technical strategies and operational plans, including recommendations related to annual budget requirements.
  • Ensures team effectiveness through coaching, code reviews, feedback sessions, and performance management activities. Facilitates conflict resolution and supports a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
  • Champions best practices and drives the delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions. Advocates for the use of common assets, modern design principles, and framework components while providing ongoing coaching, development, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Manages vendor relationships to ensure development initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with organizational software engineering standards.
  • Oversees employee career development and succession planning, including the creation of growth plans and approval of education and training opportunities. Manages training-related budgets and resources.
  • Collaborates effectively with ITS departments and business stakeholders to ensure technical solutions and information architecture strategies align with organizational objectives.


Job Requirements:

  • Six (6) years of experience in information and/or data architecture, including strategy development, planning, and delivery oversight. Strong understanding of enterprise information architecture principles, including information modeling, metadata management, taxonomy, content labeling, master data management, and integration design or 4 years of experience in information or data architecture with an advanced degree.
  • Experience across multiple architectural disciplines, including Data Lake and Data Warehouse design and configuration, business and technology domains, applications, and enterprise architecture.
  • Experience working in large, complex, heterogeneous environments, including legacy platforms preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with modern data architecture technologies and environments, including cloud platforms, Hadoop, NoSQL, and data virtualization solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging reporting, analytics, and data insights to support business objectives and user experiences. Demonstrated ability to apply architectural principles to solve business challenges and drive organizational value.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working with data warehouse technologies, including SQL Server (preferred), Amazon Redshift, and other modern database platforms.
  • Experience with database architecture, design, and operational processes.
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as Tableau and Unica.
  • Experience leading and developing technical and engineering teams in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.


This position is based at ALSAC's National Executive Office in Memphis, TN and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
