Job Description

Hamilton Connections is seeking candidates for an engineering manager position at a manufacturing company in Bethel CT. This is direct-hire opportunity.

The engineering manager is responsible for leading the engineering function for the design, development, customization, and continuous improvement of linear motion products and engineered assemblies.

The hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. The salary range is $100,000-$145,000 a year, depending on experience.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage engineering projects from concept through production
  • Oversee the design, development, modification and improvement of linear motion products, assemblies, and systems
  • Establish engineering priorities and allocate resources to support business objectives
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, processes and best practices
  • Design and validate new products, custom solutions, and engineered assemblies
  • Evaluate customer requirements and develop technical solutions that meet application specifications
  • Perform product performance analysis, troubleshooting, testing, and continuous improvement activities
  • Support manufacturing and operations in resolving design and production issues
  • Maintain control of all engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and related technical documentation
  • Ensure engineering documentation is accurate, current and compliant with company quality procedures
  • Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and engineering change orders (ECOs)
  • Provide technical support to customers, distributors and internal sales teams
  • Participate in customer meetings, application reviews, and technical presentations as required
  • Assist sales with product selection, quotations, special applications, and technical proposals.
  • Respond to technical inquiries and support resolution of customer issues
  • Review customer specifications, contracts and technical requirements for special products and custom-engineered assemblies
  • Ensure product designs meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements and manufacturing capabilities
  • Coordinate project timelines and deliverables across departments
  • Identify opportunities for design, manufacturing and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability and productivity
  • Participate in strategic planning for new technologies and product development opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus
  • 5-10 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, automation, motion control, or linear motion systems
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience with custom machinery, engineered assemblies, and product development is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of linear motion products, mechanical systems, bearings, actuators, guides, and motion control applications
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam, or equivalent CAD/CAM software
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably M2M or similar platforms
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical standards
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, assembly and quality control
  • Strong leadership, organizational and project management abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective collaboration with customers, suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments
  • Able to occasionally travel to customer sites, suppliers, or industry events as required
  • Able to pass pre-employment screenings
