Purpose

Provide strategic and technical leadership for the design, research, development, and evaluation of welding consumables and associated processes. The role ensures product competitiveness, operational excellence, and alignment with business growth objectives.

Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Lead and manage new product development initiatives, including project planning, execution, and resource allocation, to support business growth objectives.
  • Identify, prioritize, and oversee projects focused on improving product performance, quality, and cost competitiveness across existing and new product lines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Manufacturing Engineering to support integrated product and process development initiatives.
  • Monitor business plans, market trends, and emerging customer needs to guide research, development, and technology strategies.
  • Proactively address laboratory capabilities, infrastructure, environmental conditions, ergonomics, and safety to ensure a productive and compliant work environment.
  • Stay informed of external technological advancements and competitive developments that may impact global competitiveness and recommend further study, investment, or process changes as appropriate.
  • Direct investigations into new materials, material technologies, testing methods, and sources of supply to maintain and enhance consumable product competitiveness.
  • Provide technical consultation and guidance to domestic and international management teams as needed.
  • Assign and direct personnel to resolve day-to-day operational, technical, or production-related issues.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure product testing and reporting requirements are met, considering evolving product lines, fabrication codes, material specifications, and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Foster the professional development of direct reports through coaching, performance feedback, and career development planning.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed in support of the Company's 2030 Strategy and broader organizational objectives.


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field. Advanced degree desired.
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel and project management, financial analysis, and regulatory issues.
  • Leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
  • Be familiar with products and manufacturing practices employed by Lincoln Electric, its competitors, and customers.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of engineering and scientific principles, practices and procedures to the completion of assignments.
  • Ability to build and maintain superior relationships with internal and external clients at all levels.
  • Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements.
  • Typically operates with broad latitude in a complex environment.
  • Possesses and applies both practical and fundamental understanding of various arc welding processes and their applications in industrial markets.
  • Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma and statistical Design of Experiments methodologies.
