Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are consistently achieved. This role supervises production staff, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and partners cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to optimize performance.

Onsite at our Michigan City, IN location, Day Shift Mon-Fri.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise production employees across assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity expectations
  • Plan, assign, and monitor work to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements
  • Track daily performance metrics (output, efficiency, scrap, downtime) and take corrective action as needed
  • Drive a culture of safety by enforcing policies, conducting audits, and addressing hazards proactively
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback, training, and performance reviews
  • Manage employee relations, including attendance, discipline, and conflict resolution
  • Coordinate with Production Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve bottlenecks and material issues
  • Utilize ERP systems (e.g., Epicor) to analyze data and report on production performance
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles
  • Improve first-pass yield and reduce rework through collaboration with Quality
  • Ensure accurate labor reporting, timecard approvals, and workforce utilization tracking
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning activities
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment aligned with 5S standards


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Safety: Recordable incident rate, near-miss reporting
  • Quality: First-pass yield, defect rate, rework
  • Delivery: On-time completion of production schedule
  • Productivity: Labor efficiency, throughput
  • Cost: Scrap reduction, overtime control


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GDA required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, including 2-3 supervisory or team lead experience.

Work Environment

This position operates in a clean and modern manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures. Use and enforcement of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
