The
Engineer, Mechanical is responsible for owning design projects for mechanical components or systems with guidance from Senior Engineers, with scope including but not limited to generating design inputs and outputs for new products, sustainment and enhancement of existing products, and ongoing ownership of the hardware improvement project funnel.
Own defined sustainment activities with guidance for current products targeting quality, obsolescence, cost, and other sales-enablers. The scope of this role also includes contributing to design input (writing requirements & maintaining traceability) and output (mechanical drawings, design documentation, circuit diagrams, etc) documentation during development and sustainment of products with guidance from Senior Engineers.
This position reports to the Senior Supervisor, Systems Engineering and is part of the Hardware Engineering team located in Vista, CA. This role is on-site.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Design, develop and maintain robust mechanical designs with clear indicators of critical-to-quality features for both new products and for incrementally improving existing designs.
- Support R&D investigations, regulatory responses, field issues, and countermeasures related to mechanical systems.
- Own projects to increase quality, reduce product variation, and utilize appropriate manufacturing technologies with guidance from Senior Engineers.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design inputs, design outputs, and verification/validation practices.
- Execute component and system level troubleshooting for items identified through manufacturing or field escalation.
The essential requirements of the job include:- BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Biomedical, Physics or similar discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working with CAD programs such as SolidWorks or Creo.
- 2+ years of experience in an applicable engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Biomedical Engineer or similar discipline) or equivalent experience.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:- Ability to travel globally up to 10% of the year.
- Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 35 lbs.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:- Familiarity with motion control, optical systems and digital imaging.
- Knowledge and experience with GMP, ISO, and FDA regulatory standards.
- Measurement and analysis techniques for mechanical components and assemblies.

The annual salary range is $90,000 to $110,000 per year. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
