Job Description
As an Engineer II - Materials Engineering here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will support production and engineering teams across electronics assemblies, sealants, coatings, adhesives, chemical processing, and engineering substantiation/source approval.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide intermediate-level materials and process expertise to Production, Design, and Quality. You will develop test plans, perform hands-on evaluations of nonmetallic materials, and support receiving inspection, process development, failure analysis, and engineering investigations.
You will report directly to our Senior Engineering Manager, and you'll work out of our Minneapolis, MN location on a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
• Perform and interpret thermal analysis laboratory techniques (DMA, TGA, DSC, TMA, TG-IR).
• Lead failure analyses using SEM/EDS, FTIR, CT X-ray, microscopy, XRF, and mechanical testing.
• Characterize adhesives (epoxies, polyurethanes, silicones, acrylics).
• Select materials and develop processes for potting, bonding, staking, underfilling, and conformal coating in electronic assemblies.
• Draft and maintain material/process specifications and inspection procedures.
• Identify alternates/replacements to mitigate materials obsolescence.
• Validate materials and perform lab testing for production and receiving inspection.
• Lead technicians and engineers to resolve process challenges.
• Collaborate with suppliers to diagnose issues and provide robust guidance.
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
• 3 or more years of experience across Materials & Process, Design & Applications, and laboratory testing supporting engineering and production.

• Experience with adhesives, conformal coatings, sealants, paints, wires, chemical processing, and printed board assemblies.
• Process development for potting, bonding, staking, and underfilling in electronic assemblies.
• Knowledge of coatings and their process applications.
• Experience leading laboratory activities and failure analyses.
• Experience identifying alternate materials to address obsolescence.
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration.
• Self-motivated; drives on-time execution and positively influences others.
• Excels in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent projects.

The annual base salary range for this position is $84,800 -$105,900. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell Aerospace considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
