Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will initially perform radiation engineering efforts to establish the basis for the selection, development, evaluation, analysis, testing, and documentation of radiation effects in electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) parts and circuits for spacecraft and their payloads. This position will concurrently primarily support single event effects (SEE) testing, as well as prompt dose testing, heavy ion testing, and neutron testing as those opportunities present themselves.
What You'll Do:- Support Single Event Effects (SEE), prompt dose, heavy ion, and neutron radiation testing campaigns, including learning to design tests, generating test plans and radiation testing procedures, onsite testing across the United States at various facilities (laboratories, universities, etc.), evaluation and interpretation of data, and writing test reports to support spaceflight hardware. This role will be mentored by a Technical Fellow IV (Eng. Sr. Prin. IV), who is a national leader in radiation testing of sensors with over 25 years of experience.
- Be personally mentored and trained one-on-one by a Staff Consultant (Eng. Sr. Prin. II) Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Mission Systems Assurance (MSA) Radiation Effects Department, who has over 20 years of combined direct Radiation Engineering experience to perform, generate and be responsible for Total Ionization Dose (TID), SEE, and Displacement Damage Dose (DDD) radiation analysis reports in accordance with customer requirements or BAE Systems Space and Misson Systems (SMS) standard practices.
- Review part lists against program requirements and circuit design to assess radiation TID, SEE, DDD, and Enhanced Low Dose Rate Sensitivity (ELDRS).
- Work closely with circuit-design teams and system-level teams to determine radiation impacts and ensure compliance to program radiation requirements.
- Use presentation skills to convey radiation design risks and test results at program and customer milestone reviews.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working
on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Skills and Education- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, the successful candidate must possess a demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and to exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level.
- Experience radiation testing at facilities.
- Knowledge of radiation test design, test facilities, and radiation data analysis is required.
- Knowledge of semiconductor device physics and radiation effects in electronics.
- Knowledge of radiation effects (TID, SEE, DDD, and ELDRS).
- Knowledge of applicable industry and / or academic practices and standards in EEE parts and radiation effects.
- Electronics test and circuit design capability.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and presentations skills, and ability to lead group discussions.
- Have a track records of highly collaborative working skills in a team environment.
- Experience writing clear and concise reports.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a Government Security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Skills and Education- 4 or more years of continuous, related, progressive experience in the radiation testing of devices and sensors is desired.
- A TS/SCI security clearance is preferable.
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
