Job Description Summary
The Energy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing energy programs to help our clients achieve their ambitious environmental sustainability goals and targets. To seamlessly deliver energy programs and achieve targets, you will work closely with the account teams including facility managers, engineers, project managers, vendors, strategic partners, and other service suppliers across the client account team. You will help manage and communicate energy performance by tracking, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting metrics across the client real estate portfolios. You will assist account teams with utility forecasts, utility data management, rate analysis and optimization, energy conservation measures, energy savings calculations, and facility audits. Finally, you will also monitor and report key trends to support continuous improvement of the clients' energy management program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sustainable operations strategies for your client's real estate portfolio across a variety of asset types, working collaboratively with stakeholders to successfully implement programs and initiatives to reach client's objectives.
  • Collaboratively develop and implement with the site teams multi-year site-specific energy reduction plans that include capex and op ex investment recommendation
  • Prioritize the suite of mechanisms to drive energy and carbon reduction - including energy efficiency, renewable energy procurement, and electrification strategies - working with management, engineers, vendors, and strategic partners. Develop and recommend procurement strategies to help them achieve client's objectives cost effectively.
  • Lead ASHRAE Level I and II energy audits including interviewing site engineers, reviewing building automation systems, investigating HVAC equipment, and developing energy conservation measures.
  • Identify resource efficiency projects (energy, carbon, water and waste) in collaboration with key stakeholders, develop business cases including identifying possible rebates or incentives opportunities, manage projects through client approval, and manage and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to deliver projects.
  • Track, analyze, and report on sustainable operations metrics, including energy, water, and waste metrics. Report internally and externally on sustainability initiatives and metrics, including compliance reporting at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Conduct annual benchmarking of buildings usings Energy Star, CBECS, or other relevant data sources to identify trends and improve sustainability performance.
  • Develop annual utility forecasts including both consumption and cost. Through monthly forecasting and variance analysis, provide timely and accurate reporting of both consumption and spend so that there are no surprises when it comes to unplanned or unbudgeted spend.
  • Analyze utility rates and tariffs to identify cost reduction opportunities. Identify and report electric retail procurement opportunities from deregulation. Recommend action plans, where applicable by state or utility.
  • Develop energy and engineering tools that provide enhanced decision-making capability to the business and project teams.
  • Support, troubleshoot, and enhance existing tools and processes with a focus on continuous improvement.


Requirements

Possess
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in subjects such as engineering, environmental science, energy management, sustainability or equivalent through experience
  • At least five years of experience in an engineering or analytical role related to building management, commercial real estate, energy services, consulting, or similar
  • Ability to perform energy savings calculations for HVAC, building envelope, lighting, and other upgrades using Excel and building simulation models.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing comprehensive energy management programs
  • Experienced with benchmarking and analyzing utility data to drive sustainability measures
  • Advanced skills in software applications such as MS Excel and PowerBI

  • Deep understanding of the most common HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret building floor plans, sections, site plans, construction specifications, mechanical schedules, commissioning reports and operational policies

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $ 97,750.00 - $115,000.00
