Full Job Description
We are currently hiring a dedicated Electrical Construction Inspector to support multiple projects within LAX Airport's Capital Improvement program. This position is based on-site at LAX airport in Los Angeles, CA. **Essential Duties & Responsibilities:** - Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications, review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders. - Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner. - Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g. NEC, NFPA70, 70E, 72) and LAWA-specific standards. - Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities. - Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values. - Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies as needed. - Perform inspections of electrical installations including, but not limited to: - Underground utilities and duct banks - High-voltage switchgear and electrical panels - Conduit racks, conductors, and grounding systems - Interior and exterior lighting systems - Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systems - Electrical shutdowns, lockout/tagout procedures, and breaker coordination - Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as: - Low-voltage systems (voice/data, security, access control) - Door card readers, security cameras, and public address (P.A.) systems - Communication cabling and equipment rooms **Required Education and Experience:** - High school diploma (or equivalent) at a minimum. Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering preferred. - Three (3) years or more relevant experience performing electrical/IT inspections for building construction. - Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector. - Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years. - Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years. - Training & knowledge of NFPA -70, 70E, & 72. - Fall protection and harness training. - Experience at the journey-level as an electrician, with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings. - Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects. - Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials. - Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards. - Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency. - A strong understanding of diverse code requirements. - Excellent communication and time management skills. #LI-ML1 The salary range for this full-time role is $106,800.00-$142,400.02 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
