**If you are an electrical apprentice, this positions hours will not go towards your apprenticeship**

Position Overview

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for electrical construction projects, including commercial, industrial, public works, education, healthcare, and data centers. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, general contractors, and vendors to develop detailed bids that support company profitability and successful project execution.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of Mark III Construction's estimating system including computer programs, manuals, procedure and forms.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings and attend/lead pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate including conceptual estimating to ensure quality control compliance of the estimated costs.
  • Develop and provide complete, accurate and timely detailed estimates representing a project's Electrical system, costs, associated general conditions, required overhead and profit.
  • Perform quantity take-off of Electrical materials for plan/spec and design build projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for quotes and specification compliance.
  • Maintain all files of working bid documents, notes and assumptions of project estimates.
  • Perform layout of electrical systems as required to provide a complete system for estimating purposes when the documents are not complete.
  • Define productivity requirements for the uniqueness of each project.
  • Develop conceptual budget estimates from system narratives and/or system sketches.
  • Design electrical service systems for projects including building and pre-construction services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Electrical Estimating Manager
  • Report daily information and all communications to the Electrical Estimating Manager
  • Perform any and all tasks as assigned by the Electrical Estimating Manager
  • Keep detailed records of any and all items associated with the project and save them in the estimate folder.

Requirements

Estimating & Bid Preparation
  • Review bid invitations, plans, specifications, addenda, and RFIs to determine project scope.
  • Attend job walks and participate in prebid strategy meetings.
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs of electrical systems.
  • Develop cost estimates using Accubid Anywhere and Live Count.
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop conceptual budget estimates from narratives and sketches.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, manufacturers' reps, and general contractors.
  • Perform feeder sizing, voltage drop, and load calculations in accordance with the NEC.
  • Provide detailed turnover packages to project management upon award, including budgets, scope narratives, and vendor selections.
  • Support project teams during buyout and early construction phases as needed.


Requirements
  • Ability to perform plan/spec, design assist, and design build estimates.
  • Ability to read and understand a complete set of plans with a strong knowledge of electrical systems and terminology and familiarity with all construction trades.
  • Above average skills in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to balance and effectively work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with vendors, customers, field personnel, sales and office staff in a friendly, professional manner at all times.
  • Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency in completing assignments.

Education and Experience:
  • 3 years' experience in Electrical estimating on commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional projects. Data center experience a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with estimating software is a must. Experience with Accubid Anywhere and LiveCount Cloud software is a major plus.
  • Previous experience as an electrical trainee, apprentice, journeyman a plus. Field experience is a major plus.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Salary Band is $95k - $135k DOE (Salary will be based on experience and skill level)
