YOUR IMPACTKempower is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in designing and developing the next generation of DC Fast Charging technology. This role is central to our mission of powering the global shift toward sustainable mobility, requiring a blend of technical precision and proactive problem-solving.
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for creating detailed electrical schematics, selecting components, conducting testing, and collaborating with various teams to ensure successful product development and manufacturing.
- Design & Development: Lead the design of critical power electronic components-including cables, relays, and protection devices-specifically for low to medium-voltage DC Fast Charger systems.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and comprehensive certification plans.
- Compliance & Safety: Partner with engineering teams and regulators to ensure all designs meet U.S. industry standards (UL, ETL, etc.) and contribute to functional hazard and system safety assessments.
- Prototyping: Construct and test working prototypes, conducting product qualification testing and circuit design to validate original charger designs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a technical bridge between engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless product delivery.
WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU?- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years experience as an electrical engineer
- Experience with CAD programs like Solidworks, Creo, Altium, or similar system
- A proactive approach to engineering and ability to thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work across a variety of departments
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Additional Skills (preferred):
- Knowledge of and experience with electrical regulations (NEC, NFPA) and government programs (NEVI, CTEP) that support the electrification industry
- Previous experience in the EV or sustainable energy industry
