POSITION SUMMARY

Viking Forge LLC is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Controls Engineer to join our Automation Department at our Streetsboro, Ohio facility. This position plays a critical role in the design, implementation, programming, and maintenance of electrical control systems across our forging operations. The successful candidate will collaborate directly with the Automation Department team to support equipment upgrades, new installations, facility integrations, and the ongoing advancement of our automation initiatives. This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited for a technically sharp engineer who thrives in a demanding industrial environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

? Design, develop, and commission PLC-based control systems for forging press lines and auxiliary equipment using Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation platforms (Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000).

? Program and troubleshoot HMI applications using FactoryTalk View SE/ME and related Rockwell software suites.

? Develop and maintain SCADA systems for real-time data acquisition, process monitoring, and production reporting.

? Support the integration of new equipment into existing facility infrastructure, including electrical design, network architecture, and I/O commissioning.

? Collaborate with the Automation Department Manager and engineering team on full automation expansion projects, from concept through final validation.

? Perform troubleshooting with assistance from maintenance personnel of electrical control panels, field devices, sensors, drives, and instrumentation systems.

? Maintain and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and as-built documentation using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent software.

? Apply and enforce industrial safety standards including OSHA 1910.147 (LOTO), NFPA 70E arc flash requirements, and machine guarding protocols.

? Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for control system hardware and software.

? Support IT/OT network convergence initiatives, including industrial Ethernet configuration, managed switch setup, and cybersecurity best practices.

? Provide technical mentorship and guidance to automation technicians and junior engineering staff as needed.

? Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance production efficiency, system reliability, and operator usability.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

? Bachelor's degree in Electrical Controls Engineering or Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field; equivalent combination of education and demonstrated hands-on experience will be considered.

? 3-7 years of progressive experience in industrial controls engineering within a manufacturing environment.

? Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control panel drawings.

? Familiarity with AC/DC drives (VFDs), servo systems, and motor control center (MCC) applications.

? Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
