Full Job Description
About the role

As the Electrical Lead at Droyd, you'll own day-to-day electrical build execution across robot hardware and test infrastructure. You'll lead harnessing and electrical assembly work, support integration and debug, and help set the standard for how electrical systems are built, organized, and maintained.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can do careful electrical work, guide others, and bring structure to a fast-moving hardware environment.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We're an in-person company. We build faster that way.

In this role, you'll
  • Lead electrical build execution across robot systems, prototypes, and test setups.
  • Build, review, and improve wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Interpret schematics, diagrams, and layouts to perform testing, checkout, troubleshooting, and rework of PCBAs and harnesses.
  • Perform PCBA/cable rework to IPC standards.
  • Support electrical integration during assembly, testing, and debug.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and support rework, repair, and root cause efforts.
  • Set standards for routing, labeling, connectorization, and serviceability.
  • Support and guide technicians doing wiring and electrical assembly work.
  • Help organize electrical parts, tools, documentation, and consumables.

We're looking for someone who
  • Has strong hands-on experience with wiring, harnessing, and electrical assembly.
  • Is skilled in soldering, desoldering, and reworking SMT PCBs of current technology sizes.
  • Has a strong ability to read/interpret PCBA schematics, cable drawings, and test procedures independently.
  • Has proven ability to build harnesses independently.
  • Has general low-voltage electrical knowledge (0-24V).
  • Can troubleshoot electrical issues methodically and communicate clearly about them.
  • Can lead by doing and maintaining a high standard of build quality.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced hardware environment with changing priorities.

Nice to have
  • Experience in a high-precision industry (robotics, aerospace, medical device, automotive) or a hardware startup.
  • Holds an IPC-620 certification or knows IPC-7711/7722 standards, and can help elevate our internal quality benchmarks on the floor.
  • Has experience documenting data (inspection results, build logs, nonconformances) within an MES, PLM, or ERP system to keep builds repeatable.
  • Brings knowledge of board-level communication standards to assist with deeper engineering debug.
  • Has experience with basic CAD software for viewing drawings.
  • Is familiar with other prototyping equipment such as laser cutters, sheet metal fabrication tools, and understands 3D printer technologies (FDM, Resin, SLS).
