Purpose

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and sustaining all environmental, health, and safety programs for the site. This role ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations while proactively driving a strong safety culture that protects employees, supports operational excellence, and aligns with company and customer requirements, including IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of site EHS strategies that promote a proactive, safety-first culture. Serve as the site subject matter expert for environmental, health, and safety matters. Conduct regular plant floor walkthroughs to identify hazards, reinforce safe behaviors, and drive corrective actions. Chair and actively participate in site Safety Committee meetings. Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. Serve as the primary site representative during OSHA or regulatory agency inspections and audits. Maintain accurate and compliant OSHA recordkeeping and regulatory reporting. Ensure safety requirements are understood and followed by all employees, contractors, and visitors. Lead all accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. Provide initial response to work-related injuries, including first aid coordination and clinic authorization. Manage workers' compensation claims in coordination with Human Resources, including reporting, follow-up, and return-to-work or light-duty assignments. Analyze incident trends and develop corrective and preventive measures to reduce risk. Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors. Conduct site safety orientations and ensure all training documentation is complete and properly maintained. Promote employee engagement in safety programs and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage the site Occupational Health Program in collaboration with external medical providers. Monitor workplace conditions and implement controls to reduce employee exposure risks. Perform other job-related duties as assigned in support of site operations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive experience preferred. Demonstrated experience with OSHA compliance, incident investigation, and regulatory audits.

Certifications

OSHA safety certification required. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar professional credential preferred.

The job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant. The employee must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The work requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting and a variety of physical activities. Travel to customer locations as needed.
