What your team does:

In the Editorial department, we are dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the legal content that powers our platform. We focus on critical areas such as updating our statutory, regulatory, and court rules collections and "Cert" work to ensure our legal materials are current, accurate and high-performing. As we scale, we are implementing infrastructure-level AI and engineering resources to modernize our editorial processes, ensuring we remain the world's leading provider of cloud-based legal technology.

Who you are:

You are an enthusiastic, well-organized professional who takes pride in the precision of your work. You have a deep interest in the U.S. Court System and legal research, and you're looking for a role that offers significant room for advancement. You are a "storyteller" who can see the impact of your work on the broader legal system.

What you'll work on:

On a daily basis, you will be the engine behind our U.S. Court content updates. Your typical day involves:
  • Analyze and maintain statutes, administrative codes, and cases for an assigned jurisdiction or set of states/countries.
  • Apply and review case treatment taxonomies, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the collections.
  • Write and update case headnotes and summaries (digests) where required.
  • Conduct quality checks on work submitted by other Editors or external contractors.
  • Identify gaps or issues in the content collection and escalate with appropriate documentation.
  • Contribute to technical specifications for developers setting up new data pipelines or parsers.
  • Coordinate with the Content team on prioritization of editorial backlogs.
  • Use Iceberg (vLex's internal content factory tool) and jurisdiction-specific editorial tools.

What you may have:
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) or experience as an attorney is highly preferred to ensure familiarity with the U.S. Court System and U.S. Case Law.
  • Experience with statute editing, proprietary citators, and case analysis.
  • Soft Skills: A high level of attention to detail and an enthusiastic approach to problem-solving.

Serious bonus points if you have:
  • AI Knowledge: Experience or a strong interest in learning how to enhance editorial infrastructure using AI.
  • A Growth Mindset: A desire to help make the world of work more awesome and a drive for future leadership.

This role is a backfill for an existing position.
