Responsibilities

Job Title: Echocardiograph Technologist I

Division: Medicine

Work Arrangement: Onsite only

Location: Texas Medical Center, Houston, TX

Salary Range: $79,092 to $93,049

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Summary

The Echocardiograph I, uses non-invasive cardiovascular technology equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart and blood vessel conditions. The echocardiographer should have excellent communication skills in order to convey scientific information on patient condition and diagnostics to doctors, should have good bedside manner for dealing with patients and professional attitude with Physicians, colleagues and ancillary staff. Report to Clinic Manager and include Medical Director in all technical aspects of the job.

Job Duties

  • The Echocardiograph I, performs imaging of the heart to evaluate chamber size, valve function and blood flow.
  • Reviews patient files and must be familiar with most cardiac conditions in order to recognize and identify abnormalities and alert Physicians for any life threatening conditions.
  • Explains procedures to patients.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and exam rooms clean at all times/Keeping the rooms stocked with linens.
  • Performs Trans-thoracic echo, stress echo, echo oncology.
  • Reviews or performs the echo for different research teams and follows their protocol.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited training program through an accredited institution.
  • No experience required.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).


Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC experience.
  • Digi Sonics Systems experience.
  • Familiarity with the Echo Lab Accreditation process.
