Salary Range: $79,092 to $104,215

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: Flexible

Summary

The Department of Family and Community Medicine is looking to hire a Registered Nurse III for its clinical private practices. This position will be primarily responsible for the daily coordination of patient care to support clinic operations. This includes contributing to process improvement, quality assurance, and collaborating with team members across the Family and Community Medicine Department.

The ideal candidate will have excellent computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word), demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills, written and verbal communication skills in English, and ability to work in a fast paced medical office environment. Must also be a team player and demonstrate commitment to clinical care. Must be willing to travel to local clinics within greater Houston and Texas Medical Center region. Must be okay with occasional requests to work non-traditional work hours. Will have excellent communication and leadership skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours.

Job Duties

  • Under the general supervision of clinic leadership, the Registered Nurse III(RN III) performs direct and indirect patient care activities in accordance with BCM policies, departmental procedures, and clinical practice standards.
  • Assists clinic leadership with monitoring and maintaining medical equipment, medications, and clinical supplies, including inventory management and ordering.
  • Develops and publishes clinic schedules and ensure timely clinic start times and efficient daily operations.
  • Collaborates with the Clinic Leadership Team to train, assess, and validate Medical Assistant (MA) clinical competencies; support clinic workflow optimization; update and implement triage protocols; and monitor patient message management processes.
  • Provides clinical oversight of Medical Assistants, including delegation of duties, competency tracking, coaching, compliance monitoring, participation in recruitment efforts, and support for performance evaluations.
  • Supports clinic leadership in the development and implementation of quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives, including monthly chart audits and compliance monitoring.
  • Provides care coordination and facilitate Transition of Care Management (TCM) outreach for identified patient populations under the direction of medical management and clinical leadership.
  • Prepares patients for provider visits by obtaining and documenting vital signs, reviewing, and updating medical records, assisting with examinations, and supporting providers during patient encounters as needed.
  • Performs approved screening procedures, point-of-care testing (POCT), medication administration (oral and intramuscular), and other nursing interventions as ordered by the provider and within the scope of practice.
  • Maintains a matrix reporting relationship with the Clinic Manager.
  • Assists management with staff onboarding including ensuring staff access to POCT platforms, lab portals, Teams Channels and managing clinic communication lines.
  • Performs training, policy implementation, development, and performance monitoring for clinical and ancillary support staff.
  • Serves as the designated nursing leadership representative and provide operational oversight during the absence of nursing leadership at assigned clinic locations.
  • Manages and resolves high-priority patient calls and escalate clinical concerns received through Patient Business Services, Patient experience and the Live Answer program.
  • Promotes a culture of patient safety, teamwork, professionalism, service excellence, and continuous improvement while supporting organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Assists in development and resolution of contract finalization and monthly billing.
  • Assists with coordinating repair work orders and IT requests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist with clinic operations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Two years of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.


Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC experience.
  • Nursing experience in an ambulatory care environment.
